OETKPS Leads Field Study in Chiang Rai on Modern Rice Farming and Agricultural Waste Upcycling for African Delegates
On February 4, 2026, the international training program “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries 2026,” a collaborative initiative by OETKPS, Kasetsart University (Kamphaeng Saen), JICA, and TICA, brought participants on an insightful field study to the Sri Don Mun Community Rice Center in Chiang Rai province. The visit was closely observed by Dr. Kanyarat Chiewvech, Director of the Office of Extension and Training, Kamphaeng Saen, and Course Supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanate Malumpong. During the excursion, delegates learned about modern rice farming technologies, encompassing comprehensive seed management, seedling preparation, and the use of mechanical transplanters. Furthermore, a guest expert from Mae Fah Luang University shared valuable knowledge on processing and managing agricultural waste, demonstrating innovative value-addition techniques such as producing paper from rice straw and creating charcoal from durian peels. These experiences opened new perspectives on sustainability and the circular economy, equipping participants with practical solutions to implement in the African region.
