OETKPS KU Advances Practical Training with Soil Fertility Analysis and Biocontrol Applications for African Delegates

On January 29, 2026, the “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries 2026” training program, a collaboration between OETKPS, Kasetsart University (Kamphaeng Saen), JICA, and TICA, continued its intensive practical curriculum. The session began with “Soil Fertility Analysis,” led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suphachai Amkha, who demonstrated proper soil sampling techniques—specifically collecting and mixing samples from multiple random points—to accurately assess soil fertility and nutrient levels. The training then advanced to “Application of Biocontrol in Rice (Trichoderma)” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Kosawang, focusing on the use of Trichoderma fungi as a biological agent to control rice diseases. This approach is a crucial strategy for reducing chemical dependency and promoting sustainable, highly efficient rice production to ensure food security in the African region.
