Third Country Training Program (TCTP) - Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries : Day 22
On February 6, 2025, the international training program “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries” had the honor of welcoming Ms. Hakiwara Makiko, a representative from JICA Thailand Office, along with her delegation. They observed the hands-on training session on rainfall measurement, gas emission monitoring in rice fields (methane, nitrous oxide, and carbon dioxide), and water measurement and management.
The morning session, led by Associate Professor Dr. Chanet Malampong, began with a lecture at the Department of Agronomy Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Kamphaeng Saen. Participants then conducted fieldwork at the university’s irrigation canal, where they applied their knowledge in real-world conditions.
In the afternoon, the program shifted focus to “Azolla Cultivation and Its Benefits.” Ms. Wanwisak Wattanaphansak, a researcher from the Faculty of Agriculture, Kamphaeng Saen, guided participants through an in-depth study of azolla’s role in sustainable farming. The session took place at the faculty’s organic farming plot, providing valuable insights into eco-friendly agricultural practices.
