On February 10, 2025, the international training program “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries” provided participants with hands-on experience in rice harvesting and milling.
In the morning, Assistant Professor Dr. Juthamas Romkaew led a practical session on “Rice Harvesting and Milling Process” at a rice field in Sam Chuk District, Suphan Buri Province. Participants harvested rice by hand and observed the mechanized harvesting process using a combine harvester, gaining firsthand knowledge of traditional and modern harvesting techniques.
In the afternoon, participants visited Na Here Chai Learning Center in Mueang Suphan Buri District. They watched a documentary on the history of Na Here Chai, rice seed production, seed selection, foundation seeds, and high-quality rice production. Mr. Nithat Charoenthamraksa, the founder of Na Here Chai, provided an insightful lecture on sustainable rice farming. The visit continued with a tour of the seedling nursery, agricultural plots, small-scale rice milling facility, rice seedling production center, and the Here Chai Rice Research Center.
