Third Country Training Program (TCTP) - Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries : Day 23
On February 7, 2025, the international training program “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries” provided participants with hands-on experience in rice quality assessment and food processing.
In the morning, Associate Professor Dr. Chanet Malampong led a practical session on “Rice Grain Quality Testing” at the Department of Agronomy Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Kamphaeng Saen, Kasetsart University. Participants analyzed amylose content, gelatinization temperature, elongation, and sensory qualities to evaluate rice grain quality.
In the afternoon, Dr. Jakkrapong Pinyoyo guided a workshop on “Food Processing from Rice” at the Agricultural Biotechnology Building B. Participants learned how to transform rice into various food products, including rice-based beverages, brownies, and herbal rice blends. The session provided valuable insights into innovative ways to enhance rice utilization in food production.
