OETKPS Continues Chiang Rai Field Study, Training African Delegates in Creative Rice Processing and Community Income Models

On February 5, 2026, the international training program “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries 2026,” a collaborative effort by OETKPS, Kasetsart University (Kamphaeng Saen), JICA, and TICA, continued its field study in Chiang Rai province. Accompanied by Course Supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanate Malumpong, the delegation visited the Tha Sud Creative Agricultural Processing Community Enterprise. The visit highlighted strategies for adding value to aged rice and agricultural by-products, transforming them into profitable goods such as popped rice, seasoned rice, and grilled sticky rice. Additionally, participants engaged in live demonstrations and hands-on workshops to prepare traditional Northern Thai dishes and desserts utilizing rice as a core ingredient. These practical experiences provided invaluable insights into local processing techniques and community-based income-generation models, equipping the delegates with adaptable frameworks to empower farmer groups and enhance agricultural livelihoods in their respective countries.
