OETKPS Promotes Efficient Resource Management with Water Measurement and Azolla Cultivation for African Delegates

On February 11, 2026, the international training program “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries 2026,” a collaborative initiative by OETKPS, Kasetsart University (Kamphaeng Saen), JICA, and TICA, focused on the efficient management of agricultural resources. The day commenced with the module “Water Measurement and Management,” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanate Malumpong, where delegates learned techniques for canal water measurement and rainfall simulation to accurately calculate the daily water usage of rice crops. The session seamlessly transitioned to the “Rice Harvesting and Milling Process” to study specific rice varieties and optimal harvesting techniques. Additionally, a special lecture on “Azolla” by Lecturer Wanwisa Wattanapansak from the Faculty of Agriculture highlighted the aquatic plant’s symbiotic benefits for both rice paddy ecosystems and livestock. These comprehensive insights equip participants with sustainable strategies to enhance crop yields and fortify long-term food security across the African region.
